A relative newcomer to the apparel market, Iron & Resin began in southern California about 10 years ago with a cut-and-sew Rambler Jacket. It was meant to meet the demands of daily life with both style and function. The jacket was the foundation for the brand’s mission to develop quality provisions and make them last a long time through the various weather conditions those who wear it would encounter.

Rugged Apparel for Construction

Since the first jacket was made, the waxed canvas on it has been upgraded and more items have been added to the apparel line, including some items that appear to those in construction.

According to the brand’s website, Iron & Resin is the brainchild of several friends who after years of industry experience started the brand because they were “tired of the disposable garbage so many brands were peddling” to them.

Those who run the brand say being a small brand gives them a sense of freedom to operate in their own way. Its mission also encompasses the idea that the brand’s customers should choose well and buy less.

‘We believe in owning fewer quality things and making them last a long time…timeless goods that will be relevant in your closet for years to come…the kinds of things we’re proud to own and wear,’ the brand notes on its website.

Workwear Products

The brand’s product line includes shirts, jackets, hoodies, pants, shorts, workwear and headwear, such as offered by companies like Dickies, Truewerk and others. The brand does not market its apparel to specific trades nor does it offer any high-visibility workwear. In the workwear category, Iron & Resin offers the Union Work Pants, which gets five-star reviews from customers. The pants feature deep pockets in both the front and back and a utility pocket for extra storage on the right leg.

The pants are crafted from 18-oz. 100 percent cotton duck canvas and feature double-layered front thigh-to-knee panels, custom Iron & Resin rivets on all pockets and critical stress points, a shank button waistband plus YKK zippered fly.

Another offering in the Iron & Resin workwear category is the Tatham Overalls. They have received a 4.9-star rating. The overalls are crafted from 18-oz. 100 percent cotton duck canvas. They were designed with multi-compartmental utility pockets on the chest to store small tools in the front, deeper pockets in the front and rear and adjustable 1.5-in. shoulder straps for a precision fit without restricting necessary mobility.

Other workwear offerings include the highly-rated tool rolls.

A vest offering is the Highway Vest, which is constructed with heavy-duty 12-oz. Duck Canvas exterior and a 100 percent brushed cotton flannel liner. Other features include a YKK heavy-duty front entry zipper, a heavy ribbed collar and a drop tail rear hem. The vest features double-felled needle construction throughout as well as a zippered interior chest pocket lined with 100 percent brushed cotton flannel.

Iron & Resin recently introduced 22 new pieces to its lineup, including gloves, jackets, T-shirts, a hoodie and a cap.

One new option is the Forest Corduroy Shirt. It is constructed from 100 percent cotton 8-wale corduroy and is designed to be a custom-tailored Iron & Resin fit and construction. It features button flap chest pockets, adjustable wrist cuffs and has the brand’s signature red thread stitching throughout. It also features a heavy locker loop cord on the inside collar.

Among the glove offerings is the Outback Glove, a cropped 100 percent premium .8 mm cow suede leather glove featuring polyester lining, a smart phone friendly fingertip, a side zipper closing and a keystone thumb.
