Red Kap’s origins started a century ago when two brothers and their cousin set up shop to sell bib overalls under a sign reading ‘Harlin Bros. & Williams’, according to the company website. It business values were ‘great service, comfort, and durability”.

The company’s catalog expanded to encompass a new line of premium workwear. The name change to Red Kap resulted from one of the two brothers reaching for a Red Cap Brazil Smoking Tobacco in his pocket, leading to the formation of the company’s name and logo.

Business was going well until WWII, when the company diverted its efforts to manufacture gas mask carriers, combat fatigues, and field jackets. Post-war, Red Kap paired with laundry services to supply fresh uniforms to various businesses. By 1960, the company became a major player in the workwear industry having outfitted nearly 16 million workers in its existence and to this day, stands among other iconic brands such as Blaklader, Carhartt, and Dickies.
