The city of Rochester, Minn., the state of Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic, county governments and private partners hope a 20-year, $6.5 billion plan will transform the city of Rochester into a global biotech hub and become the Destination Medical Center.
The public-private partnership project to build Destination Medical Center would be funded with $6 billion from the private sector and $585 million from state and local governments.
The project would revitalize the downtown and transform the city. The plans include constructing a new performing arts center, multistory parking garages, street and sewer infrastructure, as well as commercial, academic and residential buildings across the city.
