AIA Consensus Forecast panelists are projecting growth in overall nonresidential building spending of almost 6% for 2017. Commercial construction activity is expected to increase in excess of 8% while industrial construction should remain essentially flat. Institutional construction is projected to grow at an almost 6% pace. For 2018, building spending should increase about 5% with institutional building activity growing nearly 6%.
