Keeping a battery ready to start a vehicle in all conditions is largely a matter of getting it fully recharged between each start. Innovations such as high-power-density alternators and absorbed-glass-mat and spiral-cell battery construction have made this easier, but vehicle electrical loads continue to climb. Maintenance on new battery styles has changed but it is easier, and certainly no less essential.
