Freightliner Trucks has added a Backup Alert System to its Plus Series trucks. The system includes not only backup alerting, but touchscreen display, backup camera and a reverse proximity sensor.

Contractors select either an end-of-frame mounted camera or a fully prepped camera with added harness length that can be easily positioned later to suit the needs of specific application and body upfit.

The backup camera feed will display on the in-dash 7-inch touchscreen display, while the proximity sensor will trigger audible alerts to draw attention to objects the truck is approaching. Integrated steering wheel controls for hands-free calling, USB-C port, and Bluetooth connectivity are also part of the technology in the cab.

The Backup Alert System is designed to safely navigate crowded urban environments, busy jobsites, and congested roads. Optional Side Guard Assist detects when obstacles are in the blind spot on the passenger side and triggers audible and visual alerts to the driver to signal when objects are too close. Detroit Assurance is available on all Freightliner Plus series vocational models, as well as all on-highway models.

The Backup Alert System is available now for ordering in the Freightliner Plus series, which includes M2 106 Plus, M2 112 Plus,108SD Plus, and114SD Plus. Customer deliveries are expected to begin in the summer of 2024.
