It's that time again... The season is underway and crews are on the job overcoming challenges and doing great work for your customers -- It's time to get some national recognition for the work you do!

So the Pavement Awards website is now active (ForConstructionPros.com/PavementAwards) to enable you to enter your work for a number of Pavement Awards. This marks the third year of the Pavement Awards, which are the only industry-wide recognition of the good work done by contractors -- and they have been well-received by the industry. Last year entries almost doubled from the first year and we wouldn't be surprised to see them double again this year. Word is getting around.

Awards are presented in nine categories. Pavement staff (with guidance from our Advisory Board) determines a Contractor of the Year (any contractor other than sweeping) and a Sweeping Contractor of the Year. Nominations also are accepted for the Alan Curtis Industry Service Award and the Pavement Hall of Fame. Those are all awards recognizing contributions to the industry.

But the job-related awards focus on the here and now. They honor contractors and their crews for efforts in 2016. So entries are open for:

  • Seal & Stripe: Small Job (less than 500,000 sq. ft.)
  • Seal & Stripe: Large Job (more than 500,000 sq. ft.)
  • Paving: Non-Parking Lot
  • Paving: Parking Lot
  • Good Neighbor Award (charitable contributions)

All entries must be made online at ForConstructionPros.com/PavementAwards -- and entering is easy. All that's required is a brief description of the job and its challenges, including an explanation of why the job should be recognized. Then upload two high-resolution photos and you're done!

So as the season starts keep the 2017 Pavement Awards in mind. Note particularly good work and tough challenges, take photos -- and enter them in the appropriate category. And we make the website "live" so you can enter throughout the summer as jobs are completed. Actual deadline is November 1 but you don't have to wait... And you can enter more than one job!

This industry has thousands of quality contractors doing outstanding work -- and we're happy to recognize the "best of the best" each year. So take a look at your best work and enter it for a 2017 Pavement Award. Entries are voted on by Pavement's Advisory Board. Award winners will be announced at the 2017 National Pavement Expo, Feb. 1-3 in Nashville and winners will be profiled in the February 2017 issue of Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction.
